The Bible is everywhere! And this makes sense if it is indeed God’s Word to us.
The Bible has reached more places and peoples than any other book on this planet. In terms of total circulation no book even approaches the Bible, which has sold not millions, but billions of copies! Now if a book were actually inspired by God you would expect it to be powerful. Why would the Bible sell so much? Perhaps because it meets a need of mankind that only God could know about and provide, being our Creator. And people are inspired to give it out, even for free. Personally, one example of the ubiquitous presence of the Bible that hits home for me is the Bibles the Gideons place in hotels and motels. Pull open the nightstand drawer in almost every hotel, and there is a Bible placed by the Gideons. Is there any other book you can find in practically every room in every hotel (other than the phone book, and even they differ by location!)?
No other book, especially ancient literature, has been translated into so many languages as the Bible. A ball park figure is about 2,500 languages, more than ten times as many languages as the next most translated books. Again, if this is a book from God, we would expect this to happen so that as many people as possible would have access to it. God not only has made it cross physical barriers but also language and culture dividers.
And not only has there been no special team of salespeople for the Bible, more people have tried to eliminate it than any other book. The Bible has been the most persecuted book in history. Yet it has survived all of this persecution to remain the bestselling book in history. This makes sense based on what the Bible itself teaches. If Satan exists, as the Bible claims, it would seem he and his followers would attack any book from God like no other book. And since God always prevails, then despite all the persecution God would see to it that the Bible survives, and indeed it has survived the most intense attempts to eradicate it.
So you might as well pick it up and get to know God’s Word to you. There will be no pleading ignorance!
