Did you know that many of the heroes of the Old Testament foreshadow the life of Jesus Christ in some fascinating ways? There are many prophetic types and shadows in the Scripture. Joseph, the one with the “coat of many colors,” is the son of Jacob who was sold by his brothers as a slave and ended up becoming a prince in Egypt. The following are a small sample of over 100 ways that Joseph is a prophetic type of Jesus Christ.
- In Genesis 37:4-5, 8, he is hated by his brethren because of his words. The antitype is fulfilled in John 5:18, 7:7, 8:40, and many other places where Jesus is hated because of His words.
- In Genesis 37:18 he was conspired against; in 37:23 he was insulted and stripped;
- in 37:28 he was sold (see Matthew 26:14-16, where Jesus was sold out by Judas for thirty pieces of silver);
- in 37:31-32 Joseph’s blood presented to the father (antitype fulfilled in Hebrews 9:12);
- in 39:16-19 he was falsely accused, with no defense given, as Jesus was at the cross.
- In chapter 40:1-3, he was numbered with two transgressors (the baker and the wine steward), as Jesus was numbered with two thieves.
- Concerning the two transgressors, in Genesis 40:13, 19 Joseph’s message to them meant blessings to one and judgment to the other, just as Jesus’ message was with the two thieves.
- In chapter 40:20-22 Joseph had predicted the future, and it came true.
- In chapter 41:39-40 Joseph was exalted over the others and set over the kingdom (of Egypt).
- In chapter 41:46 Joseph was thirty years old when he began his work (as was Jesus in Luke 3:23).[1]
This is just a small sample of the ways Joseph’s life reflected Christ’s life. There are too many more to list here. Take them together, all one hundred-plus, then imagine these all just being coincidental or picked out by a faker. A similarly long list of types can also be made for Moses, who was an intercessor for his people, again with just too many details to be coincidence or contrived.
Just another piece of evidence showing the many faceted overall design of the Scriptures.

I love these pictures, besuace through them I see LOVE,HOPE, TRUTH and EVERLASTING LIFE WITH MY SAVIOR. The pictures of his CRUCIFICTION tells me that if he could endour all the pain and humiliation, then so can I. You are not worshiping the pics, but seeing what our LORD went through for all of us. We were made in HIS IMAGE and COLOR HAS NO MEANING IN HIS EYES. I am Native American and in our language that He gave us, HE is Wanka Tanka, The Great Spirit, Our Creator. Since meeting Darla, I have met John, Phyllis, and a host of others. All made me feel welcome and all made me feel at home. To be in the presence of God among so many great people, well it was just heavenly. Butch spreads the word as if he just can’t hold it in any more, with passion and a zest for living the life of a man of God. Thank you for making me feel welcome and thank you all who attend our biker church for welcoming a stray lamb back into the fold.
