The Resurrection appearances were not hallucinations or visions because: 

• The disciples’ experiences happened in public places, at many different times and locations to many different people.
• The people who saw Jesus were from all kinds of backgrounds and temperaments. To say they all had the same “hallucinations” at the same time is ludicrous. It would be amazing even if two people had the same hallucination simultaneously.
• The disciples were mostly skeptical at first and were not expecting a resurrection (see Luke 24:11).
•  History shows that hallucinations don’t transform people as the disciples were transformed.
• Hallucinations don’t explain the empty tomb.
• It is not likely that church persecutor Paul or skeptic James was in the frame of mind to have hallucinations or delusions of Jesus from wishful thinking or guilt.^[1]
• And why did all the “hallucinations” stop after forty days?
• Neither could they have been visions because:
• All of the above reasons
• Bodily nature of the visions.  Visions or hallucinations usually don’t eat fish or cook breakfast.

The evidence shows that the experiences were real, tangible, and not subjectively generated.

In other words, Jesus really appeared to them!
